Cottbus Carl-Thiem-Klinikum car park

In terms of beds, the Carl-Thiem-Klinikum Cottbus (CTK) is the largest hospital in the state of Brandenburg. With around 2300 employees, it is also the largest employer in the city of Cottbus.

The new car park with 238 parking spaces was built for patients, visitors and employees. The facility also contains parking spaces for ambulances, bicycles as well as five charging stations for electric cars.

The architecture firm Dr. Jürgen Franke from Cottbus, which specialises in hospitals, took a committed approach to developing the barrier-free car park that features a full-storey construction which is known for being well laid-out and easy for drivers to navigate. The building can be accessed via ultra-flat ramps with a mere 9.5% incline. Standard parking space widths of 2.6 to 2.85 m also offer plenty of room for larger vehicles like SUVs. The top level roof protects vehicles and users from the elements ensuring that the car park can be used year-round without restrictions. The car park’s first floor and above are enclosed in an expanded metal façade with a warm bronze tone.
