Company history

More than 40 years of building parking garages – 130 years of steel engineering

Deutsche Industrie- und Parkhausbau GmbH looks back on more than 130 years of experience and innovation.

1867 Jacob Hilgers founded a business whose initial purpose was the manufacture of household appliances. By 1927, the business had developed into a company for steel and equipment construction and mechanical engineering; it is known from then on as Hilgers Aktiengesellschaft.

Since 1970, the construction of turn-key buildings became one of the company’s business areas.

1994 DSD Dillinger Stahlbau GmbH takes over Hilgers AG and DSD-Hilgers Bausystem GmbH is founded. Turn-key construction becomes its core business area.

2001 the company begins expanding its international operations. With the assumption of the parking garage of Thyssen Krupp Stahlbau GmbH Berlin, it continues its growth strategy. The company now operates six locations around Germany: Bad Honnef, Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Saarlouis and Stuttgart.

In early 2005, it was renamed to MAN Ferrostaal Bausystem GmbH.

Since January 2010, the company has gone by the name Deutsche Industrie- und Parkhausbau GmbH. The new name refers to its specialisation in the construction of industrial structures and parking garages.
